Beata Dobak-Urbańska
Specialist with many years of experience in the field of physical rehabilitation, graduate of the University of Physical Education in Poznań. She has been actively working for the development of sports for people with disabilities in Poland and abroad.
She is the vice president of the Sports and Rehabilitation Association “Start” in Poznań, a member of the Board of the Polish Paralympic Committee, and the president of the Polish Boccia Association. She plays a key role in building organizational structures and promoting Paralympic sports.
An international medical classifier in boccia and paracanoeing, she has been involved for years in the development and implementation of these disciplines in Poland. Thanks to her initiative, boccia, paracanoeing, and alpine mono-skiing have found their place on the country’s sports map.
In 1994, she served as the manager of the first Polish relay team of people with disabilities that swam across the English Channel — an undertaking that became a symbol of determination and breaking barriers in the history of sports.
From 2015 to 2025, she was the leader and co-author of seven projects under the European Union’s Erasmus+ Sport program, focusing on the integration and activation of people with disabilities through sports.
For her contributions, she was awarded the Gold Cross of Merit in 2022 — a decoration granted for outstanding contributions to the development and promotion of sports in Poland.
