dr Bartosz Piziak
Head of the Urban Innovation Lab – URBAN LAB IRMIR
PhD in socio-economic geography from the Jagiellonian University (specialization: tourism), professionally affiliated with the Institute of Urban and Regional Development, where he is responsible for innovative urban projects. He also holds a degree in Tourism Management from the Institute of Political Science at the Jagiellonian University.
He is the author or co-author of several dozen monographs, scientific articles, and studies focused on, among other topics, the development of tourism in cities and border areas, the growth of Kraków’s gastronomic infrastructure, and the innovative role of urban labs. For many years, he worked as a university lecturer at several institutions in the Małopolska region.
In parallel, he has been professionally involved in the tourism, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), and aviation industries for over 20 years. For the past nine years, he has also collaborated with Polish Radio Kraków as a journalist and co-host of the original travel program “Between the Poles” (“Między Biegunami”), for which he and editor Jakub Niziński received the Travel Journalist of the Year 2020 award from the Polish Tourism Organisation.
He has visited over 70 countries around the world, many of them multiple times, both professionally and privately.

He is also the originator and organizer of numerous travel festivals.
